The tag name is internal for your use in the analytics and reporting. It enables you quickly and easily identify the Tag e.g "Spring Flyer Promo" , "Weekly Herald Advert" "Christmas Postcard"
3. Can I alter the content my GoScanGo QR Code points to?
Yes! This is an important part of the GoScanGo platform an GoScanGo codes. You can print, distribute embed your QR code and be confident that you can alter the resulting destination to ensure it always remains relevant.
4. What happens when my GoScanGo QR code is scanned?
The user scans the code using their smart phone and is sent to the on-line content you have designated for that code. We capture the date and time of the visit, the type of device and where the user has allowed it, the geographic location. A Smart phone app will ask if the location can be divulged when processing the content. Not all users will allow so we can not guarantee that geo data will be available for all scans.
5. Do you host content?
We will host content such as video, PDF files etc on our Amazon S3 Cloud service. This is a customised service and not included in the normal registered user service. (Please email or call us to discuss)
6. If I use your free generator are the codes tracked?
No, the generator will allow you to test and trial and if you have no need to know who when and where your codes are being used you can deploy them anywhere. The codes generated by the free generator will never expire. You should read our comparison page to understand the difference and when to use the free codes and when a GoScanGo trackable code will be best. Most businesses will implement a combination of free and trackable codes.
7. How do we pay you?
We are still in beta at the moment but can accept payment via PayPal where you can use any credit card including American Express. We can send an on-line Invoice if you want to pay a single annual payment. We can accept payment in $US or Sterling (UKGBP). Our PayPal monthly Sub is US$19.95 . If you require an Invoice and to pay by BACS or by cheque (Annual fees only) then contact us.
8. Will my GoScanGo codes expire and stop working?
No. Providing you keep your account open your registered codes and tracking will continue to work. The Free codes without our tracking and analytics service will always work. Read our comparison page between GoScanGo codes and non trackable codes
9. Do users need a special phone or device?
There are many QR Code scanner applications available for all of the "Smart Phones" including the iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Windows phones.
10. How do obtain my code?
Log in to your account click on the edit code right click on the code and download it. It is delivered as a PNG file 500px by 500px. (Please read our tips and suggestions on how best to deploy your code )
11. Can I make my code a different color?
Yes but ensure that you keep a good contract between the matrix of the code and background to ensure easy scanning.
12. How "big" do my codes need to be when printed?
The simple answer is that they need to be big enough to be easily scanned. The more info in a code the more complex the matrix, which in turn requires a clear image. Practical examples of codes being scanned are those on billboards scanned for the other side of the street to those in a magazines a few inches from the user. We would not recommend going below 0.5 inches square in any printed material and recommend that you make the code as large as you can without impacting on your overall design.
13. Why do my codes send users to http://OurClients/GoScanGo.com/etc"?
This is to enable us to capture all of the analytic information as they fleetingly visit our cloud server and are the then sent straight to your content. Any QR code tracking system works in this same way.
The great advantage of using our tracker is that you can quickly and easily change where that code points to. eg the "This months events" QRCode can be changed to point to the current months calendar. Please read our page on QR Code comparison.
14. Free Codes versus Tracking Codes?
With a Free code the link embedded in the code is fixed. You would need to change the actual printed code. In effect the matrix of the code is simply a readable pattern of your URL. If you need to change the web URL that the code points to then you will need to change the actual printed code.

If your code is out there on hundreds or thousands of leaflets, magazines, products etc you are stuck with it. If your URL ins long because you are linking to a product or have URL variables for any reason the code becomes more complex and needs to be bigger to ensure a good scanning experience. GoScanGo trackable enables you to change the URL linked to any of your codes. With GoScanGo you print the code and change the link as often as you want. Read our compare QR Codes page to see when you should use a free non tracking code and when a GoScanGo trackable code is best.

15. Why do we not see a marker on the reports map for every scan?
To obtain the geo location data the user needs to give permission to the device App to allow location data to be passed. Some users will be happy to allow this other users will not. You can read more and see some screen shots of the map reporting on our reports page.
16. None of your plans quite fit what we need in the way of codes and scan volumes?
We are very flexible with our plans so if you need a particular configuration please let us know. We can manage and quote for single code with a high volume of scans or many codes with low volumes over a short period or long period. Tell us what you want and we can quote you.
17.I want to collect data and use my QR Code as a lead generation device?
To obtain personal data from the user following a scan of your code requires you to build a custom application to gather the data required. This can be done on your own site by creating a web page that the user must complete before proceeding further. To maximise the benefits of having had a user already interested you need to ensure that it is as easy as possible for the user to enter the minimum amount of data you want. Data entry on a smart phone is not much fun for the user. We can help with advice on how best to do this or build you a complete mobile friendly custom App. Contact us for more information.
18.Can you use a QR Code on a web page?
Yes have a look at our case studies page and see how the BBC web site is using QR Codes in their program listings. Most device apps will comfortably scan a code from a monitor.
19.Do recommend a particular App for scanning?
No there are lots to choose from and most have a fee option. We recommend you download a few and try them out.
20.What happens if a user scans my code but there is no signal?
They will not reach the destination but most Apps keep a history of all scans made and most App users know this and will simply use the saved scan later when a signal is available.
21.What is a QR Code?
A QR Code is a matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by QR scanners, mobile phones with camera, and smart phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data. Common in Japan, where it was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes. QR is the initialism of Quick Response, as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed. - Wikipedia
